ALTENHOF (BURLING) Marjory “Jean”

          Passed away peacefully on May 11, 2011 at CAMA Woodlands, Burlington. Born in Essex October 16, 1929, youngest daughter of Asa & Clara Sweetman. Wife of late Bob Burling (1983), late George Altenhof (1992).

          Leaving 4 children & 1 stepson; Randy Burling, Rick (Barb) Burling, Robin (Rob) Pickle, Becky Burling (Pete Sakellarakos) and Stephen Altenhof. Cherished  grandchildren; Chris (Cheryl), Rob, Matt, Tara, Stephen, Rachel (P.J.), Ryan (Shayna), Zoey, J.P., Lexy  and great-grandaughter Rylee.  Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by brother Melvin Sweetman, sisters Mildred, MaryAlice, & Dorothy.

          Jean was a member of The Essex Retirees. Her passion was games and cards with her family & friends.

          A Memorial Service will be held at Cottam Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday May 21, 2011, a celebration of Jean’s life to follow at The Essex Retirees. Family requests donations to The Arthritis Society or Canadian Cancer Society.

          A special thanks to Dr. Jones and staff at Cama Woodlands, and to Pastors Gordon, Pat and Eric for your comforting visits.

 

REAUME, Lucien

          Went safely and peacefully home to meet his Lord to be reunited with his wife Laverne on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 87 years of age at his home in Belle River. Beloved husband of the late Laverne Reaume (2008) for 67 years. Loving father of Ron and wife Pat, Connie Allard and partner John Hardy, Pam Cook and husband Doug, the late Terry (1992), Bonnie, Barry, Dan and wife Lynda, Joan Kummer and husband Ted, Linda Whalen, Neil and wife Mary Ann, Chris and wife Lynn, Dale and wife Tammy. Cherished grandpa of 34 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his brothers John Chappus and Med Chappus. Lucien will be lovingly remembered by Leona Market, Shirley Stiers, Leonard Jones and wife Dorothy, Goldina Jones, Kathleen Jones and their respective families. He will be remembered by the Chappus families of LaSalle and many friends.

          Lucien was a longtime farmer in Essex County. He retired from Chrysler’s after 20 years of dedicated service. Member of the Knights of Columbus # 3305 Essex and the CAW # 444. Visitation was held at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. N, Essex. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at Holy Name of Jesus Church (146 Talbot St. S, Essex). Interment followed at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
